Parklife is an exciting and unique service, launched in Gloucestershire, to help local companies do business more effectively. The service has been exclusively designed to link together companies in the same geographical area, on business parks, industrial estates or in the same vicinity, to take advantage of locally available networking, skills development, staff recruitment and business advice.
The distinctive green blue and white themed Parklife website is yet another example of an Evergreen project that came out of a personal recommendation. In this case when, several years ago, Parklife's Gina Dickinson and her colleagues needed to create their own Web presence.
Parklife is a publically funded (through the Regional Development Authority) organisation providing a service that links companies, on Gloucestershire's business parks and industrial estates. At its heart, the Parklife website has to provide regularly updated, accessible, quickly searchable and easily updated information for Gloucestershire businesses as well as a countywide network of partner organisations. Professionalism and instant credibility is everything for Parklife, as is an ability to meet the sometimes diverse needs of its different funding partners.
With Evergreen behind us
Parklife's Gina Dickinson takes up the story: 'The website has undoubtedly contributed to a rise in enquiries. We know that our clients and partners are very happy with the site. It just does what it is meant to do, which is to communicate our services clearly and reliably. It reassures us that, with Evergreen behind us, we're making the most of our Web presence.'
Because Parklife coordinates numerous events for local businesses, these need to be stored in an online database and be fully searchable by site visitors. Furthermore, upcoming events are automatically displayed and removed from the site after a set period. Providing these facilities in a user-friendly, easily updateable form, is where Evergreen's proven Web database experience came into its own. Naturally, the Parklife team has full administrative control over the publication of event and other details events - and the attachment of relevant supporting PDF documents when required,

'From the start,' continues Gina, 'the Evergreen team has been really good to work with. As well as knowing website design and having considerable database experience, they have an excellent understanding of the public sector which is extremely reassuring and helpful given our needs. Because they are used to creating and managing websites for with town councils and similar clients, we didn't need to start from scratch. Since then, whether we've been updating content or doing other routine work on the website, Evergreen has been a model of helpfulness and technical knowledge.'
