Cloud computing 1What do you know about cloud computing and the benefits to your business?

Simply put cloud computing is a brilliant concept.

It allows you to access applications through the internet and negates the need to physically run programmes on a computer in situ or through a server in your office or building.

Efficiency is just one of the many benefits, and it’s no surprise that more and more companies are moving to cloud computing.

But what are the main benefits for cloud computing and your business?

Remote Working:  As long as your employees have access to the internet they can work from anywhere; their home, when on the road, at a customer’s office, or even on holiday should they wish! Think of the overhead savings, less time travelling to the office and meetings, brings greater productivity.

One big filing system:  Cloud computing allows you to keep all your files in one location, with all staff working from one copy.  This avoids inaccuracy, duplication and ‘document ping pong’ where various copies whizz back and forth and you’re not sure who has the most updated version.  It also helps to improve productivity and communication between employees.

Peace of mind and security:  How many company smart phones or laptops do you have?  What happens if they get lost, stolen or damaged?  Not something you would have to worry about when using Cloud Computing.  As the data is stored in the cloud it is accessible at any time from anywhere – you are not reliant on any one device.

Disaster Prevention:  Most companies take their disaster recovery and contingency plans very seriously, and rightly so, but what if you use cloud computing?  Cloud computing providers are expert in taking care of most problems you are likely to come across, plus they are able to resolve these issues much more quickly than traditional providers.

Other benefits of cloud computing include:

  • Increased productivity with less fewer people
  • Reduced spending on technology
  • Nationalisation or Globalisation of your workforce
  • Reduced costs as there is no big spend on hardware, software or licensing fees
  • Ability to monitor projects more effectively
