Davis Bell McCraith Shop Opening

Fine wine merchants, Davis Bell McCraith (DBM) needed a point of sale system for their new shop in Clifton Village, Bristol that would integrate with its administration and existing on-line ordering system and they immediately turned to Evergreen for their bespoke application software expertise.

They needed to create an administration screen for the retail shop that would enable the order process to be as quick and simple as possible without creating a barrier to customer service. Existing databases and processes needed to be utilised but at the same time stripping the system back to absolute basics.

Accounts for new customers can be set up simply and quickly or existing customer profiles can be recalled at the click of a mouse. Working on a real time basis with the existing warehouse database, the shop interface is able to maintain excellent stock control and can also automatically print simple but attractive receipts and invoices. Being able to build more than one order at a time and switch between them maximises flexibility, enhancing customer service. What's more, the shop interface can provide accurate reports relating to daily revenue and payment type as well as reports by product sold. Says DBM partner Richard Davis,

DBM Shop Manager, Tiffany Bell serving customers

''It was with some trepidation that I asked to have a retail friendly shop terminal designed as our database has evolved to be necessarily complex. I need not have worried – the solution delivered was easier and smarter than I expected and worked straight out of the box.''

Bristol has a celebrated history of being at the very heart of the English wine trade. Ships from Bordeaux, Cognac, Jerez, Oporto, Madeira and beyond docked in this west country city for centuries, bringing their precious cargoes ashore and during the late 18th century, Bristol was home to almost 40 wine merchants. In 2009 it was, therefore, no surprise that fine wine merchants Davis, Bell McCraith (DBM), chose to establish a business to the south of this city so steeped in wine history.

With over sixty years' combined experience and of a Master of Wine, DBM customers are assured great deals from wines around the world, combined with a personal trusted service from individuals who share a love of wine. Discerning wine buyers expect a stylish and efficient experience and DBM contacted Evergreen back in 2009 to create a website platform, where purchasers could quickly and efficiently order their wine. Evergreen created a website that worked faultlessly, from customer ordering to product picking and distribution, without costly back office cross keying.

In February 2013, DBM moved across the Clifton suspension bridge to Clifton Village, the popular and thriving residential area of Bristol, opening its doors to a discerning public, eager to experience face to face, the value, expertise and personal service that has been a hallmark of DBM trading for the past 4 years. Once again, bespoke application software developers, Evergreen delivered the online database application promptly and efficiently and were able to help DBM pop the cork to celebrate their new shop launch.

Whether you're looking for everyday drinking wine or fine wine to lay down for investment, DBM wines are a company you can trust and DBM in turn entrust their customer management software needs to bespoke application software specialists Evergreen.
