Innovative online calendar gives a voice to voluntary sector
One of the Alliance’s primary goals is to create a stronger, more proactive sector capable of influencing policy and decision making. The voluntary sector had to use multiple software systems to access information, reducing cohesion. Matt Lennard, Head of Operations, described navigating the multiple systems as “A complete hassle”.
Evergreen challenge
Evergreen was tasked with creating a new website to facilitate the partnership between the voluntary sector, NHS and local council. The website would have the following features:
- A calendar of events, tenders and funding opportunities
- A central source of information for charities
- Empowerment of organisations to promote their own events
- A chat function for charities to ask questions and find information.
A community minded organisation
When Matt decided the Alliance needed a new website Evergreen was recommended to him by Business in the Community – “Business in the community got in touch with me and said, ”Evergreen is a community minded organisation, they know the sector, give them a go. It was as simple as that”.
"An Easy Experience"
Evergreen worked closely with Matt to ensure the website was exactly what he wanted; Matt said, “I felt really involved in it. Evergreen picked up on what we were as a sector… this has been the easiest experience that I’ve come across, it’s been the website that I’ve actually envisaged and wanted.”
Helping the Partner Organisations Already
The website is changing the way the Alliance works; Matt explains:
“It’s already had an impact. We’ve sent it out to partner organisations… they’ve started to use it to publicise their own events. It’s become a real one shop stop for the sector”.
Evergreen looks forward to working on future projects with the Alliance; Matt said, “if I had another project to work on Evergreen are the first people I’d get in touch with”.
